WORK EXPERIENCE

August 1998—Present
Multimedia Producer

Freelance multimedia and communications work for a variety of corporate and non-profit clients. Skills include writing and designing web pages and print materials as well as producing digital video, creating Flash animations and developing CD-ROMs. Clients include Little Women the Broadway Musical, Peacemaker Circle International, Caterpillar Financial, Hamilton Sunstrand, Umass-Amherst, Amherst College, and the Connecticut Olmstead Coalition, among others.

 

July 1996—August 1998
Instructional Technology Consultant,
Mount Holyoke College

Worked on a variety of multimedia projects for college-level instruction. Taught several classes and workshops for students, faculty, staff and colleagues in web design, Authorware, Flash, digital audio, digital video and HTML. I also directed MHC's Foreign Language Resource Center, working with academics from all over the world on software projects supporting foreign language and cultural instruction at the college level.

 

September 1986—June 1996
Media Resources Supervisor,
Mount Holyoke College

Managed the daily operation of the college's Media Resource Center. Also responsible for writing, editing and producing instructional videos and audiotapes for classroom instruction. Project management under strict deadlines for academic clients in all disciplines, utilizing all aspects of instructional media: mostly analog video and audio in the early years but with an increasing digital component as the technology improved.

Researched, wrote and produced commercials, promos and PSAs for a commercial radio station in Meriden, CT.

 

November 1985—May 1986
Production Assistant
WGBY-TV, Springfield, MA

Wrote promotions and introductory scripts for a weekly public affairs program. Also researched, wrote and coproduced several one-minute spots celebrating Springfield's 350th year.

BA with departmental honors in Media Studies (with an Emphasis in Broadcast Journalism) from Webster University, St Louis, MO in 1985.

Member of the National Writers Union (NWU) and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

Certified SubProfessional Librarian with the state of Massachusetts
